At Henwick, we teach history and geography through our topic lessons.
In Autumn 1 and Spring 1, the topics are history themed and, in summer 1, there is a geography theme.
We use both history and geography to give children the opportunity to learn more about the rich and interesting past of Greenwich and the surrounding areas, as well as other topics such as the Egyptians, the Greeks and famous explorers. To further increase and engage children with their local area, all our classes this year are named after local landmarks. Children began the year by focussing on their class landmark and learning about it in more detail.
We make use of cross-curricular links when they are meaningful and appropriate. Click here to find out more about how we use cross-curricular links
